My name is Andrea Miller, the proprietor of Chemistry Card Designs. I was introduced to the process of letterpress in a college lecture on the history of printing. I was captivated by the unique tactile effect that cannot be duplicated by any other means. I went on to study letterpress printing at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle, Washington and fell in love with deep, crisp impressions and thick cotton paper.
Upon moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2011 I purchased an antique 1902 Chandler and Price (C&P) old style platen printing press from an antique dealer in Carrboro, NC. Sadly the press had spent a couple of years outside collecting rust and was missing some crucial parts. After five months of hard work and patience, my press was fully operational and it was time for the fun to begin. Printing!
I’m now back in Washington where my husband is attending medical school. I am keeping busy working on an assortment of greeting cards, custom wedding and baby shower invitations, and birth announcements. Follow along as I detail my adventures as a letterpress printer.
All the Best,
